What We Do

The Psion Workabout Mx variants are a successful range of handheld computers . They are rugged and lightweight making them suitable for a wide range of applications.

The standard Workabout Mx range includes a number of alternative models to suit different applications. These include:

Whilst these units are robust and designed for industrial use, there can be wear and tear problems in the field. We are Garda MX take pride in repairing or servicing these units to ensure that they continue to function to the high specification they have been designed for.

What Is RoHS?

The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

When did RoHS come into force?

The RoHS Directive and the UK RoHS regulations came into force on 1 July 2006.

How does it affect my Workabouts?

As the Workabout MX is not RoHS compliant only units manufactured before July 1st can be sold and this was the time that Psion Teklogix ceased manufacture of the Workabout MX . We at Garda MX recognize that this could be a nightmare for current users to maintain a working solution without having to re-invest in a new compliant system.

We can rework your current units to keep them going or supply re-furbished units to allow you to put off the expenditure until you are ready. If you are uncertain of RoHS and would like to know more about how it affects you and your Workabouts then please email or call for further advice.
